彼は仕立てと カラーコーディネートがうまく、アイテムの制作はすべて彼に 任せている。
彼の夢はこの プロジェクトで資金を貯め、仕立て屋だけで生計を立てること。
彼は他の仕立屋を育てること にも意欲的。
A Fair Price for the Talent
I have met the tailor Joel after trying out many tailors while working in Kakamega, Kenya.
He has a great sense of color-coordination. Our team trusts his skill with every item.
His dream is to have his own tailor shop on Main Street in town to have a stable income. He is also passionate on training other tailors.
This project can be a platform for them as well.
アフリカの伝統布「キテンゲ」
「キテンゲ」はコンゴやガーナで主に作られる ワックス・プリントで、アフリカで
服を作る のに主に使われます。しかし最近は海外からの安い洋服が市場に流通し、
キテンゲで服を仕立てる伝統が薄れてきています。
さらにポリエステル製のキテンゲが綿100％の伝統的キテンゲに取って代わり、
価格破壊が起こっています。
生地屋のアイリーンは伝統的で高品質なキテンゲを仕入れてくるのが得意。
A Fair Price for the Talent
Kitenge is an African wax print which is made in Congo and Ghana.
People in Africa use the fabric to tailor daily clothing. Recently the tradition of
making clothing with Kitenge is fading. Plus, Kitenge which is made with polyester
has taken over the traditional Kitenge with cotton 100%.
Irene from the material shop is good at finding the traditional
patterned Kitenge of the finest quality.
